Women in Agile: Bringing Diversity to People, Process and Products
Announcing a new pre-event for AMW2019 !!!
New event Tuesday Sept 24!
Women In Agile (WiA) STL and Agile Midwest are coming together to bring a mini-conference event on Sep 24th with a combined goal to launch new voices (Women In Agile) and make the latest industry developments accessible to audiences in the midwest (Agile Midwest).
Specially for the Agilistas of the Midwest we will be hosting this event preceding the premier conference in the Midwest, AMW2019.
As we strive to bring more agility into our lives, Women in Agile wants to raise diversity awareness and how it impacts people, process and product in our work lives.
Lean and Agile concepts help with bringing these three essential and indispensable areas together in a way that makes life better, faster, cheaper and happier!
For more information on Women In Agile STL check out the website and the local meetup.
Come grow with us and explore how we all can make a difference.
Call for papers for WiA Event
Do you have a passion for an Agile topic OR do you have a story from your Agile Journey? We have added two tracks to the Call for Speakers for the 2019 to support this event. Before you head over and submit, we’d like to give you a bit of insight into what kind of sessions might work well for this years content:
What kinds of sessions are we looking for?
- We have 2 tracks for you
- Diversity/Inclusion thru Agile. A 45 min session for Agilistas to share their knowledge/ideas/tips on topics that focus on diversity and inclusion.
- Launching new Voices. A 12 minute lighting talk for Agilistas in the Midwest to experience something new by being first time conference speakers. We will provide mentoring to support you. This is a program of Women In Agile.
- People attending the conference are looking for advice and insights that they can learn at the conference and then apply on their agile teams, so practical sessions are ideal.
- Sessions that make learning on agile topics interactive and fun.
What kinds of sessions are we NOT looking for?
- As this is a learning focused event, we are not looking for “sales pitch” sessions that focus exclusively on a demo of for-sale tool, methodology, or framework – we do have vendor sponsorship packages available if you’d like to exhibit to demo a tool.
- It is OK to provide a brief demonstration of a tool, but demos should support learning objectives agnostic of any specific tool or framework.
- Sessions that are NOT supportive of the intent of our code of conduct to “Be Kind & Professional to All” – non-professional and/or disrespectful behavior & activities will not be tolerated.
What makes a great session for Women in Agile?
- Highly interactive and engaging content – hands on, real coding / configuration / testing, agile games for learning.
- Include practices & activities to reinforce learning objectives – have people work in groups/pairs, debrief activities, etc.
- As our event is short, be sure to provide references and ways that people can learn more after your session.
